About the role

You will build and maintain automated test suites for United States and Canadian software clients from our Mexico City hub, working the same clock as their engineering teams. We take a specific view of quality: a test suite that is not trusted is worse than a smaller one that is, because engineers learn to re-run failures rather than investigate them. Reliability comes before coverage.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain automated test suites across UI, API and integration layers
  • Diagnose and eliminate test flakiness, treating suite reliability as a first-order objective
  • Prioritise coverage expansion by production incident history and code churn rather than by module
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and optimise pipeline runtime
  • Build and maintain test data management and environment provisioning
  • Participate in client standups, planning and retrospectives as an embedded team member
  • Perform exploratory and manual testing where automation is not appropriate
  • Investigate escaped production defects, identify the coverage gap and close it
  • Author and maintain test documentation and runbooks to a standard the client team can operate independently
  • Deliver against knowledge transfer milestones and mentor junior engineers

Requirements

  • Native or equivalent Spanish
  • English at CEFR C1, assessed before offer, as this role is client-facing and conducted primarily in English
  • Three or more years in software quality engineering with a substantial automation component
  • Strong proficiency in at least one of: TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Java
  • Hands-on experience with modern test frameworks: Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Jest, Pytest or equivalent
  • Experience with API testing and tooling: Postman, REST Assured, supertest or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, ideally GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Jenkins
  • University study in computer science, software engineering or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Availability to work onsite in Mexico City three days per week
  • Valid Mexican identification and right to work (CURP and RFC)

Preferred

  • Experience with performance testing: k6, JMeter, Gatling
  • Experience with contract testing: Pact or equivalent
  • Cloud platform familiarity: AWS, Azure or GCP
  • Containerisation: Docker, Kubernetes
  • ISTQB certification or equivalent
